The DBA solo-campaign has started.
The Tyrant has started his conquest plans throughout Sicily and Magna Graecia. The army has been gathered and besides the standard formation has a reserve of 1Cv, 1Art, 2Lh and 1Ps.
The strategy selected was to defeat immediately the Carthaginians, which are considered the most perilous enemy. The first two turns have seen the army pass through the friendly nodes of Gela and Selinous. Some minor events happened and, consequently, the Tyrant decided to attack Motya resolutely.
Turn 3 Carthaginans (attacker) vs Syracuse (defender)
A very aggressive, and incautious, Carthaginian General push forward on his right flank with all the mounted to press the left flank of the Syracusan phalanx. The hoplites kept the ground on the river bank and stopped the enemy plan, while in the center the Artillery kept at distance the African spears. A foolish attack brought the two chariots to death. One of which was the General.
Carthaginians 2 – Syracuse 0
Galvanized by the great and no-costly victory the Tyrant, after a break turn given to the festivity, moved to Carthage itself.
Turn 5 Syracuse (attacker) vs Carthaginans (defender)
The Syracusans landed near the city, garrisoned by some veterans. The remaining African army arrived from a wood trying to get contact as soon as possible.
The Tyrant moved his army in a half-circle formation, with the hoplites facing once again the mounted and the artillery covering the right flank against fast troops. In the meantime 2 bases were devoted to the city conquests (without success).
This battle was much more tougher for Syracuse: artillery and Tarantines have been lost. But the loss on the other side were much more high: one chariot, numidians light horse, Spanish auxilia and two city spearmen.
Carthaginians 5 – Syracuse 2
At the end of the turn the Tyrant had the opportunity to recover all the loss.
He’s now able to continue his victorious march.
