It was one year ago when McQueen chose to end his life just days before London Fashion Week and weeks after his mothers death in London and 3 years after the infamous 'Hat Lady', Isabella Blows death, who helped launch his career.
At just the age of 40 he decided to take sedatives and cocaine before dying of asphyxiation and hanging himself.

In 1996 he was appointed Chief Designer for the french Haute Couture House of Givenchy until March of 2001. In December 2000, 51% of his work was acquired by Gucci where he became creative director.
