As if it's been a minute...
I was really pleased to be given the opportunity to work with Zatchels on a bag collection for Pride last year. Although I knew Zatchels were a UK company, I had no idea they were down the road from me in Leicester so this was the perfect match. I went out to the factory to see the bags being designed, made and then....ended up in the actual photoshoot for the bags!
I'm really pleased to see the bags are still in operation. There are six in total ranging from the mini satchel which is my go to bag for a night out, a boxy city backpack to the soft backpack. I was delighted when Zatchels sent me the bigger satchel as it was the perfect 'pick me up' for going back to work after my furlough.
It fits everything from my laptop to lunch which is handy. When it comes to work, you would think as a journalist, all I need is a laptop......wrong. I'm a pack rat when it comes to my job. It's not unusual for me to have at least two other canvas bags with me at all times for my lunch, my books and assorted clutter. I travel to Derby daily so I need my stuff with me. There is no quick trip home or just jumping into the car to grab anything. Luckily, the satchel allows me to get everything in without panicking or adding extra canvas bags.
The collection also helps to raise money for a good cause too. As COVID-19 meant Pride was cancelled for 2020, it also threatens to have bigger implications for our pride celebrations going forward too. There will be less funding and less chances for cities outside Manchester and London to have celebrations.

It's also celebrating a good cause too as 20% of the proceeds from the bag sales goes to York Pride to make sure that these celebrations can keep happening. In times where parts of the world are declaring themselves LGBT+ free, rowing back on gay rights and we still have no gay marriage in certain countries: visibility counts.
There is nothing more visible than a giant rainbow bag.
It's not just the rainbow bags but there are also smaller key rings that you can add too.
As much as I love my larger work bag, I'm really pleased to be swapping it over for the smaller version this weekend on my holiday.
